EMILE
About the artist
Born
in Havana, Cuba, Emile's earliest experience with music
was hearing a symphonic piano concerto by Tchaikovsky
on the radio. As his family had a piano in their home,
the youngster attempted to re-create the sounds he had
heard; inspired, Emile's mother enrolled him in the Cuban
Conservatory at the tender age of four to begin formal
lessons on the instrument. Here, Emile showed much promise
and took to the training with passion, eventually expanding
his repertoire to include keybords and accordion. |
Emile
notes " My sister used to play the piano, and had
an incredible effect on me as a young player. Her style
still influences me today". He points out that his
own technique " is based on intonation, relaxation,
and the beauty of the different colors of the sounds.
While I feel my playing style is very classical and I've
been influenced by noted Russian pianist Bashkirov, I
tend to write what my heart tells me to write and then
just let myself go so that my fingers dance on the keybord;
it's a spiritual experience for me." |
